Sydney Tower

Yesterday, 4 new backpackers arrived at the hostel, today another 3. Guess what nation? Right, Germans :S.
They’re nice people, but it drives me crazy. For that reason I wandered off this morning alone.

Manly

Today we took the ferry vom Circular Quay to Manly. We, that are still the same 7 Germans.

On the way to Circular Quay we saw our first Koala, just opposite Hyde Park.
Well, we think it is a Koala, because we have no idea what else it should be, and it was on an Eucalyptus tree.

Further observations

  • While walking cross below the freeway out of Sydney into Darling Harbor, some vehicle of unbelievable noise drove on the freeway into the city. It was that loud I almost had to cover my ears and my body started shaking. The sound was that deep and strong, I expected Batman in his car/tank from the last 2 movies to jump off the freeway onto the harbour any second. To my disappointment, Batman didn’t show up. Somebody wanted to show off with sound but didn’t have the courage to show himself or jump.

Darling Harbour, Sydney

That night we walked to Darling Harbour where around 8.30 pm a really cool firework started.
Don’t ask for the occasion – there is none. It was simply marketing of some whatever instituion in Darling Harbour.
As I have heard, they have quite often fireworks for no reason. Oh well, it’s nice to see 🙂

Blue Mountains

It took us about 2 hours to get to the Blue Mountains.
On the way, our really cool aussie guide+driver gave us quite a history lesson, and an interesting one!

Sydney Olympia Park

This morning I had to get up early at 7am because the bus picked us up around 7.30am.
On the way to the Blue Mountains he told us informative stories about the sights of Sydney we passed.
He had an amusing aussie way to do so.

Aussie BBQ

At 6.30pm we met on the hostel’s rooftop for an aussie bbq. After saucages and beef we finally got a kangaroo rumpsteak!
It was delicious! 🙂 Quite similar to entrecote, but a tad better in taste. I can really recommend kangaroo and crocodile.

Coastal Walk: Bronte Beach to Bondi Beach

Today we did a trip to Bondi Beach, but instead of being dropped off right there we walked a fair bit along the coast line.

The walk was lovely, the landscape beautiful, but Bondi Beach was absolutely the best! The waves were 1-2 meters high, the water had about 20°, so had the air. Walking, swimming, sun baking, that was the day. Now I really feel like being in Australia 🙂 I love the sea!
And we were told that today the waves were rather low. Amazing 😀

The 2nd night

We met at 7pm and went to an aussie restaurant/bar nearby, where I had a crocodile burger and the first beer since I am here.
The crocodile tasted great, somewhat like chicken, but with a better consistency.
Next time I’ll try the Kangaroo.
