I must admit I had never thought about Australia’s involvement in World War II before.

Broome is a nice little town, the only one you can call a city between Perth and Darwin.
The itinerary for this massive road trip up the coast of Western Australia can be found here.
This trip was simply awesome! I swam with huge mantarays and sharks and came closer to big stingrays than I had ever expected. I hiked, climbed and swam through the ancient gorges of Karijini like Lara Croft.
Saturday morning my friend Paula arrived, knocking on my door in the hostel.
We got some breakfast and ate it at the beach, then went back to the hostel and worked out what to do next.
After a good night’s sleep I began the day well rested.
Day 1
I had to be at the Adelaide Central Bus Station at 6:15 am, so I got up at 5:30 am. Luckily the lady from reception had picked the right bed for me so nobody tried sharing it 😉
At the bus station I checked-in and got my bus+ferry ticket, then had to wait for the bus a little. It was a 2 hours drive from Adelaide to Cape Jervis. On the way the driver told us some things about the region we were passing through. Of course we saw more kangaroos here and there.
At the ferry terminal I took my luggage from the bus and put it in the luggage van, then went onto the ferry. I had a little breakfast and spent moste the time on the top deck in the wind + sun.
Day 1
The bus picked us up right on time about 6.30 am. The first stop was at the Surf shops in Torquay. The sun was hidden behind grey clouds, so it was not very pleasant. Then we stopped at Bells Beach, which I did not find very impressive compared to the Sorrento Back Beach where Meg had taken me 3 weeks ago.
Then we hit the Great Ocean Road – a more than lovely region! And since the sun had come out it looked very pleasant 🙂
At one of the stops we saw wild Koalas 🙂
“He’s leaving home” – after half a year, the time has come.
That’s right, 9 months are already over, only 3 more to go!
2 months are left for Australia, the last one is reserved for New Zealand.
It’s basically a 3 months adventure holiday from now on, with a short break in Melbourne between AU and NZ. 😀
